Voltage and Current Test Station

The VCTS is an electrical safety device that allows workers to validate zero electrical energy quickly and safely from outside an electrical enclosure. It takes the guesswork out of verifying electrical energy and enhances your workplace safety and productivity. Adding an additional layer of protection, the VCTS provides a safer and more productive method of performing LO/TO.

The VCTS provides three totally independent means to confirm zero electrical energy prior to opening the enclosure, whereas typically, only one means is employed. That means normally requires exposure to an arc flash potential that exceeds the rating of the PPE available to the technician. Those three means are:

  1. Led indicators (visual indication)
  2. Testing and measurement sockets for connection of a voltage measuring device
  3. A non-contact voltage test alerts if electrical energy is present, when held in proximity to the voltage port.

*The VCTS can be customized to your specific applications. Multiple voltage connectors can be added for monitoring input, bypass, and output voltages. The flexible current transformer can be left in the equipment or removed after the measurements are taken. One single set of current transformers can be used in multiple types of equipment.

The VCTS exceeds NFPA 70E and meets the OSHA energy isolation principle. The voltage and current ports specifically address verification of a de-energized state in equipment applications where the arc-flash exceeds 40 cal/cm2.

The VCTS provides safe, convenient connections for monitoring both voltage and current without opening doors or removing panels. Specifically, power quality analysis and calibration measurements can be made without power interruptions.

Here are some typical applications of the VCTS

  • UPS Systems
  • Switchboards
  • Switchgear
  • Motor Control Centers
  • Generators
  • Transfer Switches
  • Frequency Drives
  • Solar Inverters
  • Wind Generators
  • Machines

Features and Benefits of the VCTS

Reliable
  • Active Indications
  • Failsafe Design
  • Sil 3 per IEC61508-1 compliant safety functions
  • Automated tests to reduce operator error

 Simplified

The VCTS is user Friendly, no additional tools

required, and there are visual 'Abnormal Power

    Condition' alerts.

Flexible

It is able to install on "line" or "load" side of

electrical disconnect, detect both AC and DC

voltage, and it tests three-phase circuits up to 600 V
